Sidney J. Burns, CPA, has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1973. He has been preparing income tax returns since 1963. In 1964 he earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland in College Park. Additionally he has taken graduate level courses from George Washington University and American University.
Prior to starting the firm, Sid worked as an accountant and management consultant in private industry and public accounting.
Since 1973, Sid has been providing accounting and business consulting services to businesses and individuals in the Greater Washington Metropolitan area. Sid is a past president of the Association of Practicing Certified Pubic Accountants (APCPA), and currently serves on the organization’s advisory board. His areas of expertise include individual and business taxation, litigation support and financial services. Sid frequently lectures to other accountants on taxation, firm management and information technology.
Sid has served as a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce Small Business Taxation Committee and an adviser to President George Bush’s small business campaign committee. Sid was also a nominee for Lt. Governor of the state of Maryland in the 2002 primary election. He is a past president of the Amity Club of Washington.
